ALPINE-JOBS
FAQS

When do I need to apply?
Recruitment normally starts in June/July.  If you haven't decided what you want to due before the summer then it's still possible to find a job in the autumn and even as late as December time as some companies don't recruit till late. Also, a lot of staff drop out after New Year, so employers look for more staff. If you would like freelance work we can help you  to do this too any time before or during the season.

Which Country, Resort & Company?
These go hand-in-hand to some extend. If you want to further a certain language then choose that country. Some resorts are very British so if you really want to improve your language skills don't choose these. Resorts not popular with the British tend to be smaller and may have a smaller ski area and limited night life so take this into account. Working for a larger company will make it easier to find friends but they may be less friendly than a smaller company. Accommodation/ski packages will vary between companies so take this all into accound when choosing your job.

Courses
Some companies offer training and courses. There are also independant training course available but you will have to pay for these yourself.

Age
Normally you will be 21 or over but in some cases you can be younger if you have specific skills to offer eg a language or some specialised training.

Wages
These are normally low, from £50 to £250 per week. Normally there will be a package of accommodation, insurance, travel, ski pass and equipment and some of the food.  Note that the ski pass may not be for the whole ski area. If you work freelance eg as a nanny, you can get up to £600 or even £700 per week ( full time) but you then have to get your own accommodation, ski pass etc.

Interviews
Get there early, dress smart and be prepared for questions they may ask. Have some quesitions to ask the employer as well, eg. accommodation, ski package, travel. Practice with someone you know if you're nervous about the interview. If you're applying for a chef or chalet host position then prepare a 6 day menu plan.
