Typical Chalet Host Duties
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Making beds
- Shopping
- Laundry
- Washing up
- Looking after guests
Advantages
- Accommodation/food provided
- Free ski pass & equipment
- Can ski every day (except
transfer day), providing you're organised and finish chalet duties
- 1 full day off a week
Disadvantages
- Normally low pay - needed for
spending money only though
- Long hours eg. 7.30-11.00 & 4.30
- 22.00 (depends on how organised you are and the particular chalet
company)
Useful Skills
- Ability to work hard and get
things done without supervision
- Diplomacy - some guests can be
very demanding
- Shopping/Cooking a good meal to a
budget
Not all companies use the title "chalet host" so check what the duties
actually are as they will vary between companies, eg. there may be a chef
so you just need to help out or don't have to cook at all. If it is a
small chalet company then you may be required to drive guests to/from the
pistes, larger companies will have a dedicated driver.
